Squigglefly Challenge and desk caddy in Yellow and blue! Video slideshow!

Hi Friends !
Heather at Squigglefly.com has come up with a super fun challenge, we as designers where challenged to come up with a card that featured our own hand writing.

I needed to make a gift and card for my senior friend, Ms. Vivian and felt this to be the perfect opportunity to make this adorable card.

Here is the slide show, I hope you enjoy my creations!

I used the image "To catch a falling nut", and colored it with copic markers.  I took this card way over the top by adding handmade flowers, leaves and other embellishments.

I used the scraps from the Ladies desk caddy to complete the layout of this simple yet elegant card.  The large acrylic photo frames have been purchased at my local Michael's craft store.

I hope you'll come see the fun on facebook and at our challenge blog.  Squigglefly design digital stamps are fun to use!  I hope you'll give them a try!

Squigglefly Sickity Sam!

This is sickity Sam from Squigglefly!

This seemed like an odd image to me, at least the first time I viewed it.  Then I got to thinking how fun it would be to do a get well card for a neighbor complete with a bowl of hot chicken soup or a nice casserole.

I kept the layout of the card simple and used my own hand writing for the sentiment.

Some of my favorite colors are green and pink, I used the bright greens and yellows to brighten up the card.  It was fun to create and I hope you'll hop on over to the squigglefly web site and see the great digi stamps you can purchase!

Wonderful Wednesday -- Altered Cigar box --

Hi friends!

I spent most of Tuesday working on this altered cigar box.  I used my K and Company "watercolor" garden paper to decorate this beautiful box.

The flowers are cut from a sizzix flower, 3D and all of the other elements are from my personal collection.

The pictures where made while the project was still wet, so I could get my post for today together.

Please try this project for yourself.  Cigar boxes can be purchased from your local tabacco retailer.  This box cost me under $3.00.  I am not altering the inside, as I enjoy the smell of the cedar wood.

The patterned paper measures 8 1/8" X 10".  Edges sponged and it is tacked in place with Aileens 7800 glue.

I really enjoyed making this card, it measures 6" X 6" finished. Please go visit Holly and her great digital world of the fun stuff.

Ok, before I get to the sizzix pro pie box and sizzix pie box (XL scoreboard) die, I wanted to share this picture of Chad I took during our 1 hour driving session.  We have driven together short distances.   Today I allowed him to drive to the local FedEx store with me.

Please notice in the picture the "Patient First" in the background. It is kinda funny if you think about it.

So now it's time for a fun video and pictures of today's project, the sizzix big shot pro pie box and pie box for the big shot.

I hope you'll get a laugh out of the video, I got nervous and when that happens I tend to just kinda well, you'll see!  Enjoy, stamp happy be a blessing!

What's for dinner

Hello my stampy and scrappy friends!

Don't you just hate the "what's for dinner" question.  I have decided to share some of my favorite recipies on the blog so that you can enjoy them right along with me.

My first recipe is for a Hot Chicken Salad, very yummy.  Easily increasable or decreasable, which ever fits the needs of your family.  It has potato chips in it, so how bad can it be?

Hot Chicken Salad (From Tea time at the Masters)

8 half breast chicken, cooked and chopped
10 3/4oz can cream of chicken soup
1 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup mayonaise
1 medium onion        chopped
 2 tbs lemon juice (opt)
3 hard boiled eggs   sliced
2 heaping cups of potato chips
1/4 cup slivered almonds

Mix all but last ingrident.  crumble chips.  Add half to salad.  Put in a buttered casserole.  Top with crumbled chips.  bake at 350* for 20-30 minutes.  Do not overcoook.  Serves 8-10.

My take on the recipe, to feed 3-4 people
2 chicken breast grilled then chopped
2 hard boiled eggs sliced
1 large can cream of chicken soup
1 stalk celery (large stalk)
5 large scallion onions finly chopped  or substitute about 1/2 cup chopped onions
2 heaping table spons of Miracle whip (or Mayo)
salt and peper to taste.
1-2 cups potato chips crushed

Preheat oven to 350*.  In a bowl combine all ingridents except the potato chips, salt and peper to taste.  Mix well and transfer to a greased casserole dish.  (2 quart is fine) uncovered then put the crushed chips on top.  Bake for about 35 minutes.  Before removing from oven, put under the broiler hi.  Watch it so it doesn't burn.  You just want those chips to be crunchy and brown.

Eat and Enjoy.  PS, there isn't a bite left, my husband, Chad and I loved every yummy morsel.

Enjoy, stamp happy, eat well.

Strawberry box

Today I saw some one on you tube do this cute strawberry box.  It is cut out with the big shot pro.

I couldn't hardly wait to head to my shelf and pull off the die.  I used this white and red houndstooth paper and green card stock I have in my stach.  I sponged the edges with stampin up real red ink.  I used some polka dot red ribbon to cinch up the box.  I will tell you, The first time I tried to close it I wasn't successful.  Elaine is the girl in the video, click here for her you tube channel.

You need to leave at least 3" of ribbon or twine out so you can cinch it together as you gather up the box.  Don't forget to put in a treat before you close it up.

My husband thinks it would be an adorable Christmas ornament, I can see small treasures tucked into the bows of a Christmas tree as added gifts or small things to give to unexpected visitors.

Have a great week, stamp happy, be a blessing.

Hugs,

Ladies Desk center-- with video and slide show

A picture of the finished project

Hi Stampers!

I created this adorable ladies desk center as a Random Act of Kindness.  I really love how everything came out.

I used DCSW patterned paper that the edges where sponged in a green ink, I also used a junior legal pad and sticky notes that I purchased from my local office supply store.

This project took about 6 1/2 hours to complete, mostly waiting for parts to dry.  It was fun to do and I hope you'll give it a try.

apron swap at My Scrap room -- video slideshow!

I joined an altered apron swap on My Scrap room!

Dana and I are partners for this adorable swap!  I had so much fun doing this project.  I got a bit carried away and made a matching bag and filled the pockets with goodies.  This project is literaly now "in the box" and will go postal most likely tomorrow.

Tomorrow will begin with the re-organization of my clear "dollar" stamps and re-arranging of the cuppards behind my craft desk.  Most of my large sizzix pro dies and accu-cut dies are now being stored on my book shelves, so it gives me a great opportunity to clean up those messy shelves.

I promice to try and clean that mess off my desk as well!

Have a great week, stamp happy, be a blessing!

Much love,

Queen Kat -- Tuesday -- fun card

Happy 4th of July!

Like many of you, our family celebrated the 4th of July and the Independence of the USA witha  huge bbq.

Mike had both of our smokers going at full speed, we enjoyed, smoked chicken, brisket, pulled pork and ribs.  Our friends, neighbors and family joined us last night for the wonderful meal.

Many brought specialty side dishes and deserts, every thing was just so yummy!

Remember the Queen Kat WIS blog will be going away, so please check out the products she has at: http://www.katstamps.com/ . Also, don't forget to friend and follow us on Facebook!

I used an image from her stamp line to make this adorable halloween card.  I hope you will enjoy it.
