New Neighbor gifts

Happy Monday!
I hope every one had a wonderful weekend!
I am trying to finish up a basket of goodies for our soon to be new neighbors. They should be arriving this weekend.
Remember, blog candy will be drawn on April 3, so join in on the fun and leave those comments!
I used a coaster and designer paper I purchased from the craft store. This time I veered from the stamped and embossed butterfly and choose one I stamped with Staz on ink onto the transparency, flipped it over and colored it with a yellow copic marker. I know it looks green in the photo, but that is mostly because of the green paper it is sitting on. I chose to use a binding clip to attach the post it to the front allowing for easy use of the paper underneath.
Have a great week and stamp happy!

A blue stationary box and blog candy

The stationary box is not new, I found directions for the basic box http://jackietopa.typepad.com/Stationary.pdf
Please note, if you are going to take the time to do a big project like this one, at least take the time to dress it up a bit. By this I mean, I love Jackie's blog and instructions, but the box as well as the contents seem a bit flat. Add dimension, color and layers. Don't forget a bit of glitter and a splash of wimsey.
It took me approximately four hours to complete this box, mostly because I had to wait for stuff to dry!
Most of the stamped images are stamped with memento ink and colored with copic markers, other images use a celebration kaleidoscope ink for those images. I also used a soft blue polk-a-dot ribbon. I have a bunch of new ribbon, if you are local and would like to share, please email me privately!
I hope you will give this project a try, it is not hard, just a bit time consuming!
Stamp Happy and have a great weekend!

Easter Basket

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone is doing well. First off a reminder that blog candy will be drawn on April 3 in honor of my son's arrival home for some rest and relaxation then heading for his first duty assignment.
Today, I worked outside the box on a box! I used light weight chipboard from a cereal box and cut 5 pieces, 4X4" for the bottom and the remaining 3 pieces measure 4X3". I then took strips of differing papers and cut them to 4 1/4" X 4" and then basket weaved the papers together. The edges are finished off with a scalloped edge.
Did you notice my kinda obvious mistake? Yes, I placed the ribbon handle on the front and back of the box instead of the sides. This process was a long one and took me about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete. It still needs work, but the idea is there!

I'm nuts and bolts over you!

Hello and Happy Monday!
What a great day today was! I didn't get anything accomplished around the house, but I sure got some great stamping done.
I went with my dear friend to the local stamp store, click here for her link. She recently moved into a larger location. The store is open and you feel welcome when you enter. The owner Kim is chatty and fun to shop with! She has a nice selection that is growing daily.
I picked up four sets of Stupendous stamps from her today, three of which are the robot type stamps. I created my own creature who had to be colorful (copic's baby).
I used some glitter to accent the robot and actual nuts and bolts on the card front. These are also embellished with glitter. The finished card measures a nice 6 X 6" size.
I hope you have enjoyed this project.
Don't forget, I have started my own yahoo group, so I hope you will join me there. Once we get about a dozen members, I will be starting some contests, prizes and swaps. I'm really looking forward to more of my personal and cyber friends to join me!
Click here to access the group!
Don't forget the blog candy will be drawn on April 3,2009! I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave some blog love!
Have a great night! Blog you guys later!

First signs of spring -- blog candy until April 3!

Happy Sunday!

The first sign that spring is almost here!

Today's project!
Because of a promise made to a friend, I can only briefly describe how I have been surprised and blessed over the last couple of weeks.
I really love when you are able to let something go and allow the Lord to work in your life and thorough your life. I received an email from an old friend and was so glad that she wanted to be part of my life. Don't you hate when you loose touch?! I am thankful for her loving letter and her friendship!
On to today's project. I was bored. That was until the toilet went kablowie. You see when the DH used it this morning the plastic part that raises the valve broke off, so he took the top off and later on I went to use it and gently pulled up on the gasket to flush the toilet when the arm to the fill gasket broke. Now mind you, we had talked about replacing the 'kit' for a while now, it just seems that today was that day.
So after all the 'drama' of going to the local home improvement center the toilet is again working just fine.
I decided to sit down and get creative. The top project is an altered coaster post it note holder. I used my sizzix machine and cut flowers out of felt. I embellished the wires with different ribbons. I used my bind it all machine for the cutting and binding of the holder. The coasters are stamped with brown ink with the Stamping up French Script set and the edges have been sanded and stippled with the same ink.
For the long note holder, I used the Martha Stewart butterfly, stamped it onto a transparency and cut it out, it is actually a pin and is attached to the ribbon on the front cover. I then stamped random pages with butterflies from another stamp set.
Both projects are a bit time consuming, but worth the effort in the end project.
I hope to do a video tutorial this week on how I use my bind it all to do these great projects.
Have a great night and stamp happy!

Big Shot fun with the Matchbook die!

A couple of things before viewing this video. It has a couple of hick ups I can't explain. So please be patient, because of a split in the editing process it actually will take about 16-18 seconds for the video to play, so bear with me. I appreciate your patience as I still get to know my new video camera and the editing software.

Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope you are all having a great day. I purchased my big shot a little over one year ago and have been amazed by the diversity of this machine and how many different manufactures of dies are compatible with the machine.

As a seasoned user of this machine, if you find yourself having problems are need help with your 'sandwich' or the multi-purpose platform, please let me know.

I have some original sizzix dies that I purchased when the small red machine came out. I still own the small red machine and for smaller projects it still is a great product to use!

I just love cutting felt flowers, I use the inexpensive felt found at my local craft store and spend hours cutting many different flowers, leaves, shapes, I keep them in a small container with a lid. Easily accessible and easy to use!

Today's die is an exclusive of Stampin Up, if you would like to order it, you may do so, I have a great demonstrator , please refer to my side bar for Marisol's blog information. You may also click here http://atochofsol.blogspot.com/ for her great blog!

Blog candy drawing will be April 3, so I hope you will leave happy comments any where on my blog!

Have a great weekend and stamp happy! To watch the video on you tube please click here.

A couple of projects an altered recipe box and scrapbook page!

Happy Thursday!
A reminder blog candy will continue until April 3. I will draw a winner that day. Don't forget you may visit ANYWHERE in my blog and make a comment to be eligible for the drawing.
For today I chose to not sleep in so late. When I tell you guys I got up at 8:30 am and took a nap at 1:15 (for a half hour) you'd probably say that is late. I do admit I feel much better with Mike home and sleep better knowing I have him home.
Today's scrap pages feature my favorite 14 year old kid, Chad. I just love his smile and just wish that we could do without the typical attitude of a teen.
The stamped image of the clown is from Sparkle N Sprinkle stamps, I used my copic markers to color the image and cut it out with scissors. When I placed it onto the page, I used two pop dots at his feet so it looks as if he is in motion.
To embellish my simple "Chad" title, I used orange glue and sprinkled in a bit of sparkle with some glitter. Chad's favorite color is green so there is plenty of green along with the fun orange. It is a bold bright page and is perfect for him.
By the way, don't you just love my fancy wrapping paper? Yes folks that is a plain brown bag!
Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending some time with some friends tomorrow followed by a bit of play time! I am so looking forward to the outing.
The recipe box was an actual recipe box I picked up from the craft store a while back, I used DP that matched my kitchen and a little shrink plastic grape as an embellishment.
In person the grape has a lot of sparkle, I used water color paints that have glitter in them to decorate the plastic. Once shrunk, I put a layer of lacquer over the top and let it dry. It is attached to the box using E6000 glue.
I hope you all have a great night!

Bunny Hop!

Photos of the bunny topper are above and photos of the current blog candy is below.
A couple items, I will be drawing for blog candy the morning of April 3, 2009, a little later than I originally planned. Craig will arrive home for a couple of weeks of leave before shipping out to Whiteman AFB, Missouri.
I am really excited about Craig coming home. So you can bet that blog candy will grow. Here is a secret item that will be added to blog candy, here is a hint, it is a retired sizzix die!
I just love spring. Last year we had a couple of small finches make a nest in the bathroom vent, we had to tape the fan up so no one would accidentally 'chop the babies' to bits. It was hilarious. In spite of our heroic efforts to keep them out, well -- nature found a way. They raised three little ones.
This year we *think* we've outsmarted them, we put some screen over the duct with duct tape and we had momma and daddy bird loudly voicing their displeasure. Too funny!
I will be doing a video tutorial tomorrow, so you guys will have that to look forward too. For today's project I used my sizzix exclusive top note die to create the topper and I used my spell binder dies for the other scallops and circles. The shading was created using a light sponge. Other goodies include a bit of chalk and detail with a fine black pen and wiggle eyes.
Have a great night and stamp happy!

Band Aid tin -- blog candy reminder

Happy Monday!
I had a bought of a tummy ache this morning that derailed my previous plans to spend some time with my friends. I'm sure I'm back on track though. I received this lovely band aid tin from a friend and it just 'needed' to be altered. I started with some green galore stamping up card stock and some designer series paper (from the sale -a -bration kit).
I used some stitched wild Wasabi ribbon. The flowers are die cut using an old sizzix die out of felt. The flowers are embellished with glitter. The dew drops finish off the project. I plan to use the tin for upcoming ATC swaps.
I recently purchased a third dogie bed for our basement. This area is also where my wonderful craft space is located. I couldn't help but get a shot of all three of our puppies, don't they look spoiled rotten? From left to right, Lexie, Buttercup and Snickers.
Just another reminder, of blog candy; here are the pictures
I hope that I am able to post a new video tutorial soon, so be on the lookout. My goal is to try and do one video a week!
